This week felt like momentum building. Tiger hinting at Augusta. Justin Thomas stepping back inside the ropes. New rules quietly changing strategy. Golf doesn’t pause.
🐅 Tiger and Augusta back on?
Tiger Woods at Augusta National
Ahead of the Genesis Invitational, Tiger Woods made one thing clear. The Masters is still in play. He said he is “trying” to return to competitive golf, confirmed he can hit full shots, and is working daily to rebuild strength and endurance. Nothing official yet. But the tone and the smile said plenty.
If he tees it up at Augusta, it would mark his first true start since the 2024 Open Championship and put his remarkable streak of 24 consecutive made cuts at the Masters on the line. For now, it is about progress. Day by day. Shot by shot. But the possibility of Tiger back at Augusta is... mouth watering.

🔄 JT’s comeback starts indoors
Justin Thomas at TGL
Justin Thomas is officially returning to competition. The 32 year old will tee it up at TGL on Feb. 23 for Atlanta Drive, marking his first competitive appearance since undergoing microdiscectomy surgery in November to resolve persistent lower back pain. He was fully cleared earlier this month and previously indicated he hoped to return during the Florida Swing. This indoor match looks like a controlled first step before committing to a PGA Tour start.
🛠️ Aberg first to use new driver rule
Ludvig Aberg on the PGA Tour
Ludvig Aberg became the first PGA Tour player to take advantage of a new rule allowing damaged drivers to be replaced immediately on course. After cracking the face of his driver at Pebble Beach, Aberg was able to call in an official, confirm the damage, and swap in a spare head carried by his caddie under the updated local rule. Previously, replacements had to be retrieved from the locker room, making the process impractical mid round.

🚶‍♂️ Walk or ride?
Walking the golf course
A new study found walking 18 holes dramatically increases fatigue compared to riding, with players taking 10,000 more steps and burning far more calories. However, among young elite golfers, that extra strain did not reduce clubhead speed, ball speed, or carry distance over one round. Walking is harder physically, but performance stayed steady. For amateurs, especially over multiple rounds, accumulated fatigue may matter more.
🌊 PopStroke adds a surf lounge
PopStroke Surf Lounge
The Tiger Woods partnered mini golf concept PopStroke is expanding in North Texas, reopening a former surf venue at Grandscape as The Surf Lounge at PopStroke on March 5. The new open air, poolside space adds a social and event focused layer to the existing two 18 hole putting courses, restaurant, and playground setup. Food and beverage will be run by PopStroke’s BarTenders concept, with surf access limited to members while the lounge remains open to the public during operating hours. Golf meets beach club energy.
Tiger hinting at Augusta. JT back in competition. Aberg testing new rules.

That’s where the game stands this week.
